Bio

Christina has been performing and teaching the art of belly dancing for over 30 years. A native New Yorker, she graduated with a BA in dance from Hunter College. After studying all different styles of dance, she discovered her true passion was for belly dancing.

She has performed at numerous events. In 1976 she officially opened the new Egyptian wing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with a spell binding performance. "If there was ever a moment to remember for the people who attended, you provided it." (Nancy Liesbethe Staub, manager of operations.)

She hosted and performed several times at Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park and at the New York Dance Festivals in the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park.

From 1979-1981 she starred in the Broadway show "Sugar Babies" with Mickey Rooney and Ann Miller, performing as "LittleEgypt" to rave reviews. Liz Smith of the New York Post said she was one of the shows highlights.

T.V. appearances included The Merv Griffin Show, HBO special "Strippers"(portraying Little Egypt), Good Morning New York and The Midday Live Show with Bill Boggs. Articles featuring Christina appeared in Life Magazine, Paris Match, Cue Magazine, The New Yorker and the New York Times.

Christina points out one of the highlights of her career was when Fred Astaire came backstage after her performance in Sugar Babies and said he had never seen anyone dance so beautifully and asked if she would teach him how to "do those moves"!

Christina teaches the dance as an art form with dignity, gracefulness and femininity. "Belly dancing empowers a woman to rediscover her sensual side that sometimes gets forgotten in our multi tasking lives". Through belly dancing, women of all ages, shapes and lifestyles can celebrate their curves, get a great workout and most importantly have fun.
